Frequently asked questions from jobseekers

You can apply for a recruitment training programme if you are currently an unemployed jobseeker, at the risk of unemployment or in a fixed-term employment relationship that will end soon and if you have a valid job-seeking process at the TE Services.

The idea of the recruitment training programme is to get a new job through training. The concept combines working at a company with top-level training. The purpose of the recruitment training programme is to provide the participant with comprehensive orientation and support for work tasks. With the help of the training, the applicant can also move on to tasks that require new kinds of skills. After the programme, the goal is always to enter into an employment relationship with the partner company.

You can apply even if you do not speak Finnish as your native language. Some of the partner companies in the programmes use English as the company language, so it may be possible to work in English at the companies. However, most of our training partners’ training courses are in Finnish, so participation in training usually requires good Finnish language skills.

During the programme, you will be in a training relationship with the company and the company will not be obliged to pay you wages. During the training, you will receive the same unemployment benefit as if you were unemployed. You will also receive compensation for expenses on the training days.

If participation in the training has been agreed in your employment plan, your unemployment fund or Kela may pay you an increased unemployment benefit for the duration of the training. For more detailed conditions, the maximum period and other information regarding the increased benefit, please contact the party paying your unemployment benefit. The aim is for you to have a paid employment relationship with the company after the programme.

Programmes are organised all over Finland.

Many of our partner companies for the programmes in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area also have offices elsewhere, so it is possible to participate in these programmes throughout Finland. Those participating in a programme may also find a partner company in their home town.

There are two kinds of recruitment training programmes.

There are pre-planned programmes built around a specific technology with standard training content and duration.

In addition, there are personally tailored programmes whose duration and content are planned on the basis of the needs of the person and the partner company.

The average length of the programmes is 4–6 months.

We at Saranen will take care of finding the partner company. We will try to find a company that meets your wishes as well as possible. At the same time, we take into account the needs of the company, as the company’s representative makes the final choice of the most suitable candidate for them.

You can also search for a place at a partner company yourself to secure your place in the programme.

You can also finding a suitable place through a business contact of your own. If you have a potential place at a company, please mention this to the responsible persons of the training programme as soon as possible at the beginning of the application process.

Yes, because the training courses are different programmes in the labour administration. In order to be an applicant, you must submit a separate application for each programme. You can apply to several programmes at the same time.

It is a good idea. The various programmes have different contents. We recommend that you apply to all programmes that interest you.

You may have entered your password incorrectly. You can ask the system to send a new password to your email address and try logging in again. If you are still unable to log in, please contact the training programme coordinator.

At different stages of the application process, we will send information about the progress to all applicants by email. We will contact you by phone if a specific partner company is interested in interviewing you.

The content of the training depends on the programme. There are usually about 20–25 training days and their content has been defined in advance.

In some programmes, training can be tailored personally and courses are freely selected from the public training offering of our training partners. The number of course days available per training month is 1.5–2. The training days are selected by the person together with the representative of the partner company in order to support the development of skills and the work tasks as much as possible.

The place at the company will be confirmed after you have been interviewed by the partner company and the company has made a positive decision on the selection.

In order for you to be selected for the recruitment training programme, we will need to find you a suitable place at a partner company. Selections for the programme will be made individually as places at companies are confirmed.

All applicants will be informed of the progress of the application process. Persons not selected for the programme will also be notified as soon as possible.
